Good question! Unless we have a deal or promotion going on, you generally get free shipping when you either (1) subscribe to a product (always free shipping) or (2) place an order that is greater than $50 in subtotal. So if your order is less than a $50 subtotal at checkout, you will be charged for shipping unless your order is a subscription.

Sometimes what happens is your order was more than $50, but then a promo or discount is applied which then brings your order under $50. 

If you believe your order should have qualified for free shipping but you were still charged, just let us know and we'll figure it out together.
